Eightieth “Birthday” Celebration

2017 marks the 80th anniversary of A&M Garden Club becoming Federated.  The club was organized in 1936 and was the first community gardening group organized at Texas A&M University to teach new residents how to grow in our soils and climate.  Although not directly affiliated with the university, we carry the name of “A&M” (without the “Texas”) because of our founders – members of faculty, wives and families.
Stay tuned for information on the celebrations that are being planned to mark the occasion!
Last week (March 29) we started the celebration with a “Birthday Tea” at a local Garden Center Café; Scrapbooks were retrieved from storage for members to look through, and various photos and items were displayed on trifold board.  Former (4) and current president, and president elect were present, pictures l to r.  At our May meeting we will have a big Birthday Cake and lots of surprises, in addition to the installation of our new officers.
